In two years, a Miami company that measures buildings from blueprints grew its revenue nearly sevenfold.
Miami-based Togal.AI ranked No. 2 on the South Florida Business Journal’s list of the region’s fastest-growing companies with revenue under $25 million. The recognition cites 593% growth over two years, Togal.AI announced.
A second ranking followed. The Business Journal named Togal South Florida’s fastest-growing tech company by percentage growth. Revenue rose 194% from 2024 to 2025.
The paper also placed it among the fastest-growing companies across all industries. Togal is expanding its local workforce.
Founder and CEO Patrick Murphy was “a bit stunned” to see the No. 1 tech ranking, he wrote on LinkedIn.
The Slowest Job in Construction
Before a contractor can bid on a building, someone has to count what it contains. That job is called a takeoff.
Murphy remembers the old way. “Estimating was still being done largely the same way it had been for decades,” he wrote.
The result was manual takeoffs, scale rulers and hours of work that should take minutes.
An estimator studies the drawings and measures walls, floors, doors and fixtures, often by hand. The numbers become a price. The price decides who wins the work.
It is slow, repetitive and unforgiving. One missed room changes a bid.
Togal.AI builds software to take that work off the estimator’s desk. It reads construction drawings, analyzes them with AI and automates the takeoff.
The company also offers cloud-based collaboration, so teams can work on the same plans. Its pitch is speed without surrendering judgment. Togal describes the tool as built by estimators, for estimators.
That matters in a trade where a wrong number costs real money. The software does the counting. The estimator still owns the bid.
The product is not one tool. Togal sells takeoff software tuned for trades including drywall, electrical, flooring, framing, glazing, painting, and doors and hardware.
It also picks fights. Its site carries comparison pages against established tools such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam and STACK.
Those pages speak to buyers who are weighing the alternatives.
What 593% Actually Means
Growth of 593% means revenue grew nearly seven times over. For a company still under $25 million, that is a steep climb from a small base.
The caveat is the base. Fast growth is easier to post when revenue is small. The ranking says Togal is moving fast, not that it is large.
What explains the speed? MAIN has tracked the pieces. Togal said 97 of the 400 largest U.S. contractors use its software. Big builders have the most takeoffs to run.
Murphy says Togal has more than 10,000 users.
Its engine was first trained on more than 100,000 drawings labeled by architects and engineers.
Togal also holds five patents, with more pending. “We’re essentially building a protective wall around our technology,” Murphy said.
The next goal is bigger. Murphy has said Togal is training models to infer plumbing, electrical and HVAC details from early plans.
That remains a stated goal. No results have been reported.
A Miami Company With a Miami Backer
Togal began in Miami in 2019. Murphy, a former U.S. congressman, still runs it from there, and its listed address is in Miami.
Local capital helped. Lightning Capital, a Miami venture firm, invested in 2024. It looks for companies with specialized data that broad AI models cannot easily copy.
The company has collected local wins too. MAIN’s Founding Index profile notes it won the eMerge Americas startup competition and has appeared on BuiltWorlds’ Pre-Construction 50 list.
Miami’s AI story is usually told through chatbots and funding rounds. Togal is a quieter export.
It sells to estimators in a trade that rarely makes headlines. The product is a faster bid.
The ranking will not decide whether it gets there. Customers will. For now, a Miami company is growing faster than almost any peer in the region.
