Anthropic wants Nvidia to anchor what could be the largest IPO in history. Miami's asset managers don't need to wait for the prospectus to start paying attention.
Anthropic is in talks to bring Nvidia in as an anchor investor for an IPO. The offering could raise as much as $100 billion, according to Reuters. The listing could value the company near $2 trillion.
What an Anchor Investor Actually Does
Nvidia is considering investing up to $10 billion in the IPO itself. That's on top of the up to $10 billion it already committed to Anthropic in November 2025.
Anchor investors commit to buy a set portion of shares before an IPO markets more broadly. That gives the offering an early vote of confidence. Arm's anchor investors included Nvidia and Amazon. Saudi Arabia's PIF backed SpaceX the same way.
For an offering this size, that early commitment matters more than usual. A listing this large is shaping up as a real test. How much will public markets actually pay for frontier AI valuations.
The Numbers Behind the Valuation
Anthropic raised $65 billion in May at a $965 billion valuation. Its annualized revenue run rate has climbed sharply. It went from about $9 billion at the end of 2025 to more than $65 billion by the end of July.
The company's own projections put 2028 revenue somewhere between $190 billion and $200 billion. The potential IPO valuation partly rests on that figure.
Anthropic's compute relationships run deep across the industry. It committed more than $100 billion over a decade to Amazon's AWS in April. It also agreed with Google and Broadcom to add multiple gigawatts of TPU capacity. It is building an in-house team to design custom chips for Claude.
Why This Matters to Miami's Money Managers
Miami Hedge Fund Week drew thousands of alternative investment professionals to Miami Beach this year. It filled rooms built for exactly this kind of allocator debate. A potential $2 trillion IPO, expected to close before November's midterms, is the kind of event that dominates those conversations. That happens well before the actual prospectus drops.
Ligo Partners is a single-family office based between Miami and New York. It surveyed more than 400 family offices this year. Sophisticated capital isn't exiting AI, it's just migrating between layers of it. An anchor-backed Anthropic listing is exactly the kind of event that migration has been positioning for.
What Happens Next
Both Anthropic and Nvidia declined to comment on the talks, and the terms could still change before anything is finalized.
For Miami's own concentration of family offices and hedge funds, the open question isn't whether this IPO happens. It's whether the valuation Anthropic is asking public markets to accept holds up. That test comes once retail and institutional investors get a vote, not just venture backers already deep in the position.
