Roark's Drift is the angel investment portfolio of Joe Roos. It invests in early-stage startups across space, AI, crypto, robotics, and consumer tech. The vehicle was formed after the 2012 IPO exit of Hudson's Bay Company and Lord & Taylor, on the view that technology would keep disrupting retail.

Today it is industry agnostic, making early-stage investments in companies with post-launch, demonstrable revenue traction, typically allocating $25,000 to $150,000 per deal with the ability to participate pro-rata in subsequent rounds.

The name comes from Howard Roark, the protagonist of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead, and the historical Battle of Rorke's Drift, symbolizing the balance between individualism and collaboration the firm looks for in founders.
