A New York startup just made Aventura its permanent home. It went from zero customers to $7 million in revenue in 14 months. Now it wants Miami to be where it builds the next stage.
Comp AI announced Friday it has opened its new headquarters in Aventura. The company plans to hire about 20 employees over the next 100 days.
The Growth Behind the Move
Comp AI develops AI-powered software that automates security and compliance requirements for startups and growth-stage companies. It replaces manual audits with continuous monitoring.
Founded in 2025, the company currently employs 23 people globally and expects to reach about 50 by year's end. Its South Florida hiring will focus on product, engineering, marketing, finance and operations.
"Zero to 900 customers and zero to over $7 million ARR in the last 14 months, one of the fastest-growing companies in the country," co-founder and COO Claudio Fuentes told Refresh Miami.
Why Aventura, Not New York
Comp AI was founded in New York. Two of its three founders grew up in South Florida, and the region offered advantages beyond hometown ties.
"Florida's tax environment, lower operating costs, business-friendly climate, and quality of life" tipped the scales over the company's other offices in New York City and Southampton, England, Fuentes said.
"Miami has quickly become the center of gravity for Comp AI," CEO Lewis Carhart said in a statement. "Our largest cluster of employees is here, our hiring focus is here, and this new headquarters gives us a physical home base."
Carhart is expected to relocate to the area within the next couple of months. He'll join Fuentes and co-founder and CTO Mariano Fuentes, who have already made the move.
What the New Office Actually Looks Like
The headquarters occupies an entire 6,000-square-foot floor in the Aventura View building. Comp AI is investing about $200,000 to renovate the space into a collaboration hub with flexible workspaces and a lounge.
The office will also double as a gathering place for customers and partners visiting from the company's other locations. One addition stands out even by Miami tech standards.
"We just bought a humanoid robot who will serve as our receptionist," Fuentes said.
Part of a Larger Pattern
Comp AI joins a growing list of technology companies relocating to or expanding in South Florida. That list runs from Palantir and Google to dozens of venture-backed startups.

What This Means for Miami's Tech Scene
A compliance and security company choosing Aventura over New York isn't just a tax story. Comp AI is betting its fastest growth phase happens with its team physically concentrated in South Florida.
This region is still proving it can hold onto companies past their early hype cycle. A startup already profitable enough to renovate a floor and hire a robot receptionist is a concrete vote of confidence.
