The Miami Downtown Development Authority has approved a new round of business incentive grants supporting 15 businesses opening or expanding across Downtown Miami, Brickell and the Arts & Entertainment District.

Since the program launched in 2024, the DDA says it has helped 40 businesses open their doors and awarded more than $3 million in incentives.

Among the latest recipients is Atano Inc., an AI-powered healthcare platform designed to streamline provider credentialing and insurance enrollment. The company says its technology is aimed at reducing administrative delays for healthcare organizations.

According to Atano, its platform automates document extraction, primary-source verification, payer application completion and compliance tracking. The goal is to help healthcare practices and outsourced credentialing organizations onboard providers faster without adding administrative headcount.

The wider group of grantees reflects the diversity of Miami's downtown business economy, spanning restaurants, cafés, retail, beauty and wellness, coworking, fintech and technology.

Another technology-focused recipient is BuildrFi, a fintech platform providing cash-flow management and flexible payment solutions for construction businesses.

The DDA says the incentive program is designed to support job creation, increase commercial occupancy and strengthen Downtown Miami's appeal as a place to live, work and build businesses.

Funding for the current fiscal year has already been allocated, but the next incentive cycle is expected to open in October.

“Downtown Miami’s future is powered by the small businesses that bring our streets to life.”

What This Means For Miami

The latest grants offer another glimpse of the businesses Miami is trying to attract and retain as its downtown economy evolves. The inclusion of AI-powered healthcare and fintech alongside restaurants, retail and community businesses also shows that technology is becoming part of the city's broader small-business ecosystem—not a separate sector operating on the sidelines.
